The Medical Schools
- UL: The Louisville Medical Institute was chartered 1833 and established in 1837, graduating the first class in 1838. This school was renamed the University of Louisville Department of Medicine in 1846 when the Department of Law was organized. The name School of Medicine, University of Louisville was adopted in 1922.
- KSM: The Kentucky School of Medicine was established in 1850 under the auspices of the Masonic University in cooperation with the Medical Department at Transylvania University in Lexington, which closed that year. It remained in existence until 1908 when it was merged with the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
- LMC: The Louisville Medical College was established in 1869. It merged with the Hospital College of Medicine in 1907 to become the Louisville and Hospital Medical College for one year before merging with the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1908.
- HCM: The Hospital College of Medicine was established in 1873 merging with the Louisville Medical College in 1907 to become the Louisville and Hospital Medical College for one year before merging with the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1908.
- KYU: The Kentucky University Medical Department was established in 1898 with a lineage to Bacon College, which was chartered by the Disciples of Christ Church in 1836 and became affiliated with Transylvania University in 1865. It closed after the 1907 session ended in July of that year.
